Appearance: Smooth surface texture slate approximately 6mm thick with wide dressed edges. The thickness of the slate is one of the most consistent available in the Irish Market.
his slate is a dense stone slate, and does not have any Iron or Quartz content. It requires minimal grading due to its uniform thickness. Being dense stone, it has less tensile strength, making it more brittle. As a result, it needs to be hook fixed and cut with a disc machine, instead of the traditional Slate guillotine.
Brazilian slates should be fixed using stainless steel hooks and appropriate copper nails. They are pre-holed for ease of fixing. Slates from different crates should be mixed to ensure a good spread of colour variation over the roof.
